Dalyan and Caunos Day Tour
Visiting: Dalyan, Caunos,
Duration: 8 hours
Spend a day visiting the beautiful Dalyan and Caunos, including spectacular rock tombs and a boat cruise through the region's scenic channels.
Meet your professional Turkish guide and board the minivan
for the drive to Dalyan, a tiny village situated on an inland waterway. Upon arrival, take a leisurely cruise through its surrounding channels and
waterways by motorboat. The banks are lined with fields of cotton and vegetables, alternating with dense
clumps of reeds. Along the way you can admire the unique Lycian tombs carved into the rock face which are considered one of Dalyan's most famous landmarks.
On arrival at Caunos, disembark and hike up the rugged hillside to the remains of this once important
Carian city. Bordering the Kingdom of Lycia, its culture was heavily shaped by its neighboring region and the ruins left today include those from a theater, temple and baths, as well as Lycian-style rock tombs. Around 400 BC, Caunos was a thriving Mediterranean port, but when the harbor began to silt
over, the city declined in importance. Following your visit, enjoy a boat ride on the Daylan River which will take you back to the village of Dalyan and lunch at a local seafood restaurant.
After lunch, the minivan will return you to Marmaris.
